you're ovethinking it, it seems like. take a stick and a golf ball or whatever... it doesn't matter what you use to get used to stickhandling, anything will help. other than that, live on the ice as much as possible, and develop that left-handed shot. you'll be a commodity.

A stick with a closed or slightly open face angle will make stickhandling easier, but the negative part is it will make it harder to raise the puck. Then deep a toe curve will also help to handle the puck, I wouldn't go with a deep curve unless you are extremely above everyone in your age group at shooting. Because a deep curve gives you only a small area to get the best power transfer to the puck. Also wood sticks give you a way better feel of the puck when it's on your blade. I don't consider myself a stonehand player and I have big troubles with one pieces and stickhandling, it just seems to bounce off 20 feet with the slightest touch. A hybrid type stick would be a better choice, but you're used to wood so I'd say stick with it.

Well for starters as Snevik said...pretty much try to live on the ice...go and skate and try to bring your stick and a puck with you....that's as best advice as I can give to anyone...plain and simple, the more you skate the better you become...go with the newer technology in my opinion...you don't see too many NHL players using wood blades these days...so good luck buddy.
