Default Reggie Bush - Convinced yet?

If he hasn't already, has the Heisman winner won you over yet? Is he the real deal? He hasn't been as explosive as he was in college, but he's getting better with each week. The TD punt return, the USC leap over the Steelers for the score, and now 4 touchdowns against the Niners... Thoughts?

One game........how about some consistency. The niner's D isn't all that to talk about either. On top of that...since Bush hasn't done much but turn the ball over more than converting first downs even....coaches have left the game planning around him in the back burner. Due to that, the Niners ignore him....the guy has a great game.

Let's see how he does next game. I want to be convinced.

there are other rookies not named Reggie Bush that have performed well all season. Reggie has just recently shown up. He will be great.. but him splitting time with Deuce hurts his chances for that ROY trophy.

agreed. I remember a running back that broke the SB rushing record with 204 yards a few years back. Havent seen or heard of him since. Timmy Smith anyone ?

well, I did lie just a bit. After he played for the Dallas Convicts I do recall this story;
He returned to the news in 2005, though, when he was arrested for allegedly trying to sell cocaine to an undercover police officer.

Just goes to show that after you play for the Cowboys you have one path, and it comes with a criminal record.

I don't know if Reggie will be great....the chances of it happening sure are that though, great....the guy's got loads of talent. He needs to alter his style of running though. He's so used to running to the outside and that's what's been hurting him. It's like his nature is to do just that..."no hole, let me try to burn him on the outside". When he shakes that tendency off, he'll make great leaps in his performance.

Yesterday we were reminded of his receiving talent....awesome performance. If he gets his run game in check....man, watch out. He'll be everything we've come to expect him to be.

Wait wait wait...Rookie of the Year? Why was that even mentioned for Reggie Bush? He's not even close. Before last game, carrying a 2.4 yard average will not get your ROY, and I don't care if you are Reggie Bush.

Not to bring up more Colts shit, but Addai had 200+ total yards and 4 TDs in a game...anyone ready to don him with greatness yet?

No. You don't base shit on one game. And that's all Bush has had. He will be good in this league, but hell no I'm not convinced yet.

That run, where he broke like 3 tackles, and then dragged 3 more guys down to the one yard line...that was awesome, though.

i'd take Bush over Mario ANY DAY OF THE WEEK...i think that's a no brainer. look at the impact he's had on the Saints regardless of if he scores, runs, passes, catches etc.

the guy is a star in this league already......where's Mario?? lol

that is an unfair assessment. Here is why:

#1 - Reggie Bush touches the football, Mario doesn't unless he gets an int and sack. You notice Bush more because of it.

#2 - Reggie is a rb, wr, kr, pr and is on the field more than mario.

#3 - Reggie has a better team around him, just like Big Ben is 2004. He has a good team around him, thus making him better. Mario has no one around him where he can stand out. Put him on the Bears DL, you may see a better year.

well, I dont know about all that. You are talking about the Texans yes ? Sadly, I do believe their defense spends quiet a bit of time on the field.

you can't compare the two.. it's different roles, different teams, etc...

I'm happy with Mario. He's done pretty good considering how tough it is to be a good DE in your rookie season. He can only do so much with the squad we have now. Add to that the fact that he's had a foot injurie for about 4-5 weeks. Hey, can't knock him. C'mon man....he's a rookie.

Bush hasn't done shiut either, except for yesterday. Like I said, if he start lighting it up next week and the week after that...then he'll have my attention.

i'll tell you why it's a valid comparison.

Julius Peppers in his rookie year. Jevon Kearse in his rookie year. both of these guys were on pretty much weak teams yet they got there and totally dominated. Kearse played on a Titans defense that wasn't very good...Peppers came in when the D-line for the Panthers wasn't as stout as they are now.

so RB, KR, DL etc. if you're a playmaker, you'll make your presence felt. period.

that's why you can compare them. Mario is supposed to do for the Texans and their defense what Bush has done for the Saints and their offense.

he'll never be a Peppers or Kearse.

well Jevon Kearse has never been heard from again.. AND he had help.. he was on a good DL his rookie year... Peppers also benefits from a good DL
