Default hey, hockey season!

how you been? i've missed ya!

let's run the gamut on early season discussions here. predictions, over-reactions to opening night, nitpicking the versus telecast (you changed your name, but your crappy camera work will give you away, you ****er), premature trash talking, lamenting starting goalies with hip injuries before the season even begins (niitty... are you serious?), and incredulousness at the general public's apathy to the greatest game on earth.

god bless.

the rangers will over value the addition of shanahan, who will get hurt mid-season, and overestimate the prior season of lundquist, whose gaa will rise above 3.

They do have a deep and good team on paper, but goaltending is still sorta shaky to me & offense is mostly young and unproven. Although that's probably just the resentment towards Pronger talking.

Young and unproven kinda like a backup coming off the bench and winning the Stanley Cup?

It's pretty common to see young goalies play amazing when put into the NHL, they go off of the adrenaline and have an amazing stretch/season. Usually followed by a hard fall off.

It's pretty common to see a goalie who has played behind a poor defense for the majority of his career suddenly take off when he has the top 2 defenders in the league in front of him, too.

"but remember that St. Louis had McInnis and Pronger for many years and they didnt win any championships, so we'll see what happens"

Those two only made Turek look good and that was for one season.

But Brezgalov hasn't played behind a bad defence at all during his career.

i agree. i hate crosby...but he scares the crap out of me every time he's on the ice.

still a punk, though. going after forsberg and hatcher when he's not even wearing big boy pants? unwise.

That stat becomes a little less relevant when you keep in mind that they won the President's Trophy at least once during that stretch and made the playoffs every single year. In hindsight it seems more like bad luck that the Blues didn't win the cup in that stretch.
