:beatdead:

Not when you get past to the second round once in that long stretch. Either way Bryzgalov never had a bad defence infront of him & he had the best backchecking team in the league. Also he's only played two NHL games before last season, so the majority of his career was spent in front of a solid defensive team.

Yeah, but the Ducks went to the conference finals last year with one of these defensemen, so either way the comparison falls apart.

I never said Bryzgalov had bad defence, I'm just saying that the defense now is significantly better with the addition of Pronger and you will see that reflected in his numbers. What you will also see reflected in his numbers is:

1) Last year's rookies, who played a big role in Anaheim's success, maturing
2) The fact that he's finally got a year under his belt

My whole thing was a lot of goalies who are thrown into the net and do good cause of the adrenaline. Bryz seems like that kinda goalie to me. i don't think he is going to do anything close to what he did last season no matter who else is in front of him.

Obviously I'm not going to make a bet with just slightly better than 1:30 odds. I was talking about a bet that Bryzgalov ends up in the top 20 in goalie stats or something.

it's pretty evident once you play the game. i'm all for scrappy youngsters- hell, our franchise player was one- but you prove you deserve respect with play without complaint.

edit: as a hockey fan, should i have a moral qualm with gutting barry melrose's abdomen with a machete, given the opportunity?

edit2: on second thought... lundqvist should have won the calder last year.

Although Bryz hasn't been the starter all this year he's been shakey in almost all of his starts. Probably only one or two really solid starts.

So far this year I can't believe how mediocre the Northwest division is, how bad philly is and how unreal Crosby is seeing the ice.
