I don't know if this is exactlly what you're looking for but I use "Pocket DVD Studio" to put movies on my PDA. It's a pretty good program with good video quality (for pocket size conversions) and it's easy to use. The files don't take up much room either. I have "Sin City" (181 Mb) and National Treasure (185 Mb) both on my SD flash media card. If converting to a portable format is what you're looking for I recommend "Pocket DVD Studio."
