nobody works for free, especially for two years of their life...

no similar uproar about pearl harbor (and dont tell me 50 years and 5 years are a big difference) a horrible POS movie that completely made that tragedy look like a joke

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Around here it's usually used to mean disrespect.

I just don't like the idea of anyone making any money off of that event.

That's still a little different. The people who were killed at Pearl harbor were in the service. That means they understood that there was a possibility they could die at anytime.

It's different at the WTC. These people went to work like it was a normal day. They did nothing to deserve what happened to them.

While yes that was a tragedy, the majority of the victims were millitary. It is an assumed risk when joining the millitary, people may try to kill you. When you work in an office building that is not an assumed risk. Not to mention although it was a suprise, the naval base did have someanti-air defences, and managed to down several Japanese planes, unlike the people in the towers, who could do NOTHING but sit and watch.

Being famous doesn't necessarily make you an ass. Steve Buscemi was a firefighter for a number of years before he got into acting, and on Sept 11th he went back and volunteered.

Regardless, I won't be seeing this movie. It's one thing to say it's wrong for people to make money off of tragedy, it's another thing to actually make the effort to avoid helping them.

10% of ticket sales is rubbish. I don't know what it's like where anyone else lives, but movie tickets here are something like $9.75. If they really wanted to donate money, they could.

My biggest problem with the movie is that it's just too soon.

PS anyone who says Nic Cage is a bad actor or is in bad movies has clearly not seen 8mm, The Rock, or Face/Off.

it was a good movie, but it was a slow movie, like the weatherman, which was also an ok-good movie.

I just saw the movie last night. I also saw Flight 93, and I didn't think of either as capitalizing on what happened. Movies and Tv are a huge part of our society, and sometimes seeing something on the big screen helps people connect with the events when the actual events felt detatched. What's weird is that, when it was all happening, most people said "it was like something out of a movie", and that's pretty much how it felt to me at the time. Same for the Columbine shootings. We all watched it happening on TV and since most of us viewed the experience through the screen, that's just what we're used to.

A lot of profit has been made from 9/11, and I think an emotional movie profiting by stressing the emotional impact in a way that's easier for us to connect with is probably the least evil.

I didn't cry when 9/11 happened but I cried in the theater, in both movies. My feelings didn't change from one to the other, but I could connect with the account of two rescue workers told on the big screen more than a grainy news shot of a building on fire.

All I know is that it reminded a large # of people in our population of the horors of that day... the media controls what we do, what we say, what we think, and what we feel... it defines society and there is no argument on that issue... I dont think it capitalized on anything, everyone who worked on that project did it for the purpose of remembering.

I saw this movie a couple of nights ago with my mom. I'm visiting her and she wanted to see it, so I figured why not. I didn't have a strong desire to see it, but I'd rather see it than "step up".

Forget the politics of this movie. I was pissed at one thing. The fking microphone kept peaking down into the screen. I've seen this in a couple of different movies like once during the whole film. I counted it 12 times. thats right TWELVE TIMES! There was also a few times where the was like a visor or something at the top. Maybe it was just that single film the theatre had because I havn't seen anyone else complain about it. But that's pretty pathetic if you ask me. How about we just hear the directer yell "action" and "cut" before and after every scene. I mean if people are putting up with horrible movie making then would they put up with that as well?

anyways besides that microphone, it was an alright film. Like I said I didn't have much of a desire to see it, but it was something to do. To be honest, I felt kinda bored at times. Mainly because it showed those guys wives alot. I think it's a good film to portrait what the families went through during 9/11. And to show that people didn't know what was going on that day. We all know what happened now. But the morning of 9/11, no one at the towers even knew that the 2nd tower had been it. Like it showed in the film, some knew, but some didn't.

basically, some things were good in the film, but some aspects of it were overdone (shown the families). Thats just my own opinion. I was getting annoyed by the end of the film and was wanting it to end.

Im not going to see it because I rarely go to the theaters, and I would rather see Little Miss Sunshine, or The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby.

Oh and this:
