Dragon*Con

So now that I live in ATL I figured I would go and check out some of the local happenings. I look in the newspaper and see ads for something called Dragon*Con and right next to it is a bulletin mentioning a Clingon Beauty Pageant. Fuck ya! I think to myself. So I call up all my maines in this area and we to check it outdizzzel.

It was about a 10 minute drive from where I am staying in downtown ATL, and finding parking close was a breeze because apparently $20 for parking is a little much when you can park two blocks back for $3.50izzzel. We walk over to the Hyatt - the entire convention had taken over four hotels: the Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, and the Sheraton - and go on in to get the badges we will need to get into any of the events/lectures. Right when we walked in it was how I had always imagined what it would be like if FG ever had a meet-up; there were kids dressed as Vikings, Transformers (holy shit there was this guy who had made an Optimus Prime costume out of cardboard boxes and toilet paper rolls) every character ever mentioned from Star Wars, and a plethora of comic book and other epic trilogy characters.

Lots of things happened, and then at 7:30 we went to some JREF event where some apparently geek-famous old maine James Randy was demoing one of his ways of proving that all this psychic shit is fake and blah blah blah. To be honest I feel asleep, so Im not really sure what went on during it until the end when I heard a lot of yelling. I guess they had finished the demo and were taking questions; it was down to the last person in line and he was pretty much calling bullshit on James Randy and his foundation. He kept quoting some random stats he had, or calling them liars, and this randy old man James Randy got RAGED! He started to yell at the guy, much to the amusement of the audience, citing his own facts and how the people he was talking about hadnt done this or that. Probably the best part of that hour long demo was the nap I got and that guy getting hit on the head with a full water bottle. I wanted to get out of that room as fast as I could before I was squashed by the literally tons of weight shuffling towards me. So I turn to go out the door and BAM! I see two guys dressed up as fast-headcrab zombies posing in the doorway.
