Default This is weird...

All of a sudden I just got a really sharp pain in the back of my leg, and couldn't stand up. It was on the 'back' of the knee so to speak, and now I can't feel that part of my leg. There is a large red patch, but only a small part of it actually hurts, when I move or, touch it.

Any idea what the hell this is?

Sometimes I get this weird pulse in my leg near my knee... and it moves.. and sometimes the muscles in my knee get tangled and I cant walk properly. Meh, thing is whats up with the red patch maybe its an allergy or something.

Maybe... it's just I've never seen it before. I've had a bit of pain from time to time in that region, but nothing that ever stopped me from walking and came on so fast...

Maybe it's a post traumatic car-hitting-you injury.

Frozen's absolutely right. I think it's probably some bruising after being jostled a bit from being hit by a car. Your adrenaline was pumping, you may not have been aware of how the rest of your body was jarred by the hit, but it's probably bruising from that.

But is this something you've had before the accident? Because if so, your doctor may ask you some questions:

First off, is the pain really in the back of the knee (not on the thigh or calf)?

Second of all, where's the redness? Is it also right in the back of the knee (not thigh or calf)?

Third...any swelling in the back of the knee?

I am NOT there to see you in person, I am NOT a qualified practitioner, and I can't guarantee this is a diagnosis...but with soldiers, Baker's Cysts are pretty common back there. The treatment? Ice it, elevate it, take Ibuprofin (Motrin), put a heating pad on it when the ice has the pain relatively under control, knee brace.

But I'm worried about you, Mo. You've had some strange numbness and tingling in your upper body before, haven't you? Have you even seen a doc for those things yet? Because you really, really should. I just want to make sure you're being given a look-over, to rule out any badness issues such as clotting problems or systemic diseases. It may just be normal wear and tear you're putting on your body. But why not have it looked at anyway? You have free healthcare there, right?

Spam central... OK.

I don't get many waiting lists because my dad's a Dr... which I think is unfair, so I always let other people go (because they are probably in much more pain).

Get on a waiting list. I don't care if you have to camp out in front of a hospital. Get seen. NOW!
