To Blaz:

You made excellent points. Thanks for explaining some of the finer points to me, because honestly I didn't even consider the prophecy. Thank-you!

I guess I was just unhappy to see one of the main characters change so much. Luke and Leia's mother could have been anyone. Why take a seasoned diplomat who was one of the heroes at the start of the series and change her so much? It's not as though I expected her to jump back into the public eye and take office or anything...I just wished she had cared more. After all, this was the democracy that she herself fought to protect and negotiate peace treaties for. It was something that she had asked her own people to die for. It isn't something you simply forget about because you've got "better things to do". Her government's collapse deserved something more than a sigh of exasperation.

And what about her pregnancy anyway? If she was so concerned about their offspring being revealed to the world, why didn't she leave for Naboo ages ago? Or at least...stay where she was but attempt to be discreet? Not only does she stay in the Capitol during her entire pregnancy, but Anakin spends every spare moment with her and sleeps in her bed. She goes out in very public places with her pregnancy clearly showing and even receives guests regularly. And she and Anakin are both shocked that Obi Wan somehow "found out" about them. ;p It didn't take strong Jedi perception to figure that one out.

Maybe I'm bummed because the one character (besides Obi Wan) that I actually liked turn coat on me. She went from being a strong Leia-like warrior woman to a rather silly person who seemed incapable of using even simple logic. Even Leia, while in love, became a better fighter and a stronger person. Padme shrivelled up. I missed my Padme.

:LMAO: You didn't like Carrie Fisher? She was, after all, Paul Simon's wife. I always thought she was cute as a button.

But there's no question that Natalie Portman is beautiful. And she's a great actress too. I think of all her stuff, I still love her as the little girl in "The Professional".

I think you are reading too much into who Padme was really supposed to be Lady. Yes she is supposed to be a strong willed woman nad what not. But in Ep 3 she clearly sees that the battle she once faught for is a loosing battle and not one that she is any longer a part of. Now her only fight is for the one she loves (Anakin, I hate Anie) and her child.

She has no say in what happens with the senate because she knows that if she opens her mouth she will disappear.

If she's that shallow, then the silly cow should never have been Queen. :-p The old cliche about a good woman being willing to drop everything for her family sounds all nice and cozy and all, but for a leader to completely cease caring because, "gee, it's not worth it anymore 'cause we can't win so I'll go make some brownies" sounds totally tacky. Would a Marine think that way? Would our own Jedi lady, Lady F? But, maybe I read too much substance in her from the beginning. Maybe she was simply the Paris Hilton of Naboo who got to become queen due to her celebrity status. She liked the make up and cool dresses and all, but she simply rode out those "silly political affairs" until she could do what she wanted: have kids and leave those messy affairs to the boys. Because obviously love suddenly turned her completely stupid.

That was your first mistake. Reading the book before seeing the movie, so now going into the film, you are expectant to see alot of the book in the movie.

I have never heard Lucas say that part of Episode 3 was to show the creation of the rebellion. Senator Organa was important for two reasons in the Film:

1) He adopts Leia (that is a gimme)

2) He is the ONLY Senator that sees what is really going on and needs to get to any Jedi still left alive to warn them.

At least Captain Antilles was introduced.

I've got a question, Star Wars fans...

Why is Princess Leia a princess? How does she get that title?
