Exclamation Welcome! (Read this first!)

Welcome to Programming and Web Development!

Hello, and welcome to the Programming and Web Development forum. You will enjoy your stay here if you just follow these simple guidelines/rules!

Asking for Help
We have some talented people here on these forums who will be glad to help you with the knowledge that they have. Generally, if you have a scripting / programming challenge, someone here will probably have an answer. And if we don't have an answer for you, we can usually find a resource for you to look at.

There are some important things to remember when you ask for help:
  • This is not a private coding support group for you.
  • We all have other things to do, and we will not spend all of our time working on your issue.
  • We do this on a volunteer bases - we are not required to do this. We do it because we want to.

In return for our efforts, we expect from you:
  • Respect
  • Courtesy
  • Thanks
  • A reply indicating if things worked or not

We ask that you do not reply with:
  • That thing sucks
  • Thanks for nothing
  • Great, but now do this.
  • No response

Additionally, you must keep in mind that while we are here to help you, there is a difference between helping you, and doing the work for you. Most of us are fully willing to write you a full program/script, but we will want some form of payment in return, as we took our own time to write it for you, unless it's a simple few-minute program/script.

Posting Links
First of all, this is a Programming and Web Development forum, not an advertising forum. If you would like to post a link to your web site for us to look at and give you tips on, but please do not make a post similar to "check out my super 1337 skillz! check out my site! it's the best! free stuff!"

If you have a forum to link to, make sure that you're only posting it to ask for tips on how to improve it. Don't post just to attract more people to register to your forum.

Threads created purely for advertisment will be deleted promptly.

Posting Programs
If you've just finished making a really cool program for yourself, and you want to show us how leet you are, then please post a screenshot of the program in addition to the link. It helps get people's trust that you're not giving them a malicious program, and it lets people see what they're downloading, and if they actually want the program.

If you'd like, you may PM a Programming and Web Development staff member to verify your program, and after you make your post, that staff member will edit your post stating that it has been approved by staff, and people will know it's safe and recommended.

Know what you are talking about
If you are going to reply to a thread where someone is asking for help, please make sure you have some sort of idea what you are talking about. I have seen many people posting in here that have little to no clue what they are talking about.

Additional Rule Information
This forum, as part of FeverGaming, still has all the FeverGaming rules enforced in it. In addition to that, disciplinary action will be taken for violating the above rules. This forum will be run on a three strike system. However, this is more of a guideline, and we do NOT always follow it. Break a rule too severaly, and you may skip a few strikes,
  • Strike 1 - The moderator will remove the offending material, and send a PM to the user in question. The PM will contain information as to what rule was broken, and what to avoid in the future. More information may be included in the PM, depending on the reason of the warning.
  • Strike 2 - User in question will be suspended for the forums for a minimum of 3 days, maximum of 7 days. Evading this suspension will be punished by FeverGaming rules under Ban Evasion. A PM will accompany this suspension containing the same information as above. The user will be able to read the PM when the suspension expires.
  • Strike 3 - User in question will be banned from the forums for a minimum of 1 month, to a maximum of a permenant ban, based on the reason for the strike. An e-mail will be sent to the user explaining the cause of the ban.
  • Strike 4 - Permenant ban for the user in question, an e-mail may be sent if the moderator/administrator wishes to send one.

Again, keep in mind this is a guideline, and may not be followed for all disciplinary action taken in this forum.

A few tips:
  • Use proper sentence mechanics. Proper grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation will help everyone understand you post, and increase the chances of someone helping you. Additionally, it makes your post easier to read, and makes you seem more intelligent.
  • Before asking a question that you think might be simple, try a quick google search. Most of the time this is enough to solve your problem, and it saves us the trouble of having to go out of our way to google it ourselves.

Well, now that you are educated about the rules / guidelines of this forum, go have some fun posting! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me a PM, and I'll try my best to respond to you as soon as possible.
