IMO,I never thought any game would top the feel and experience of ET in term of hectic gameplay, coordinated teamwork and objective accomplishments.I didnt know what to make of QW before the BETA since it was hard to accomplish what RTCW/ET did originally to begin with. But,I am really pleasantly surprised. It is way more intricate and complex than ET was, even with only the one map we're playing right now.The speed is a bit slower than ET,but still hectic enough to not be boring.
The thing I like the best and at which SD are proving themselves again is the game balance. You have 2 different teams in real sense of the word. Its not just different skin models of weapons and tools, but they work differently too.For example GDF medic revives faster, while the strogg takes a while but then the Strogg can claim the enemies bodies as his spawn so you have a nice balance right there.Every artillery round has a interceptor if the other team is playing smart etc.The classes itself are way deeper than any other game that has them.Theres a lot to learn and do and figure out what works best. The learning curve is a bit steeper than other games, but well worth it.The vehicles on BETA are not perfect, but its obvious that they dont influence the outcome of the battle that much. The deployables are way more effective if used properly.Once the full game is out and people learn the tactics,it should be a real blast.

if they got rid of the vehicles, and left such things as the jet pack type things (dont know the exact name) it would be a really good infantry game, but the vehicles are such a let down, its almost embarrasing to get in one just by the way it feels, you drive a GDF vehicle in a boost mode, you have NO control over it at all

Well i guess after playing the game a bit more, you do get used to the fast paced action. In its beta stage it does need lots of tweaking, especially balancing the weapons, strogg seem to have a bullet of death with each fire. Snipers are useless as of right now, i have had cases where i have seen guys snipe but overall its too fast paced to snipe anything other then air or the ground. One thing im highly dissapointed with are vehicles, controlling them is a hassle, they are clumsy and unresponsive sometimes. These are my first impressions of the game, so i guess maybe playing it a bit more it will seem better.

sir.side is absolutely 100% correct, its a big disapoint with the vehicle physics, and the tormenters a shocker! I never seen such worse vehicles in any games i played

Personally I dislike the vehicles feelings and the sniping, specially the GDF one. It is strange to have no indicator in the center, not even a dot. The strogg one does, but why it has to pixelate like that is beyond me.

The sniper is good, they just give you a handicap, like in W:ET. There you had to aim under their heads pretty far to get a hit, so you cant sniperwhore, it really takes skill now. And the pixelated is because Strogg are alien cyborg things, so its just to make it look machineish I guess.

A handicap for a sniper? Look at it, the only ones you can possibly hit are the ones standing still for 3 seconds or more. And even then you cant get a clear shot, because there is no good aim for you thanks to the big box for the GDF sniper. Headshot is almost impossible and after the first impact they run around like crazy and then you cant even hope for a second body shot.

I am a pretty damn good sniper, ever since Quake World Team Fortress (that is the very first one, Quake 1 you could say), i loved playing sniper. In BF2 and BF2142 you can get head shots off people who are running around if you are damn good. In Quake Wars you might get headshots in, if they lay down somewhere and you are in the one perfect vantage point to actually see them. I remember one round where i spawned 3 times as sniper on GDF to give our troops some cover for the EMP disruptor. I emptied the gun every single time, i hit at least 10 people over all those spawns, nobody died of my sniping. Action, fine and well, but a sniper that is imprecise, swings around wildly while you zoom and does not even give you an accurate crosshair in the center, thats just crap for snipers. Might as well give them a shot gun over that distance.
