As it was hinted at earlier this week, developer Crytek will stop making further patches for the original Crysis after update 1.2. "For a good reason" they said then, well, it seems we got that reason now. Now the Official Crysis site now has a teaser image for Crysis-Warhead.

Got a little more information on it. You play as Sergeant Sykes, aka Psycho. It's the first game to be developed by Crytek´s Budapest studio, and is built on a new, enhanced and optimized version of Crytek’s CryENGINE 2 technology.

Warhead features a larger arsenal of weapons and vehicles as well as new multiplayer content.

They don't say if it is an expansion or sequal. Any info on that?

It's something in between. Sort of like "Blue shift" for halflife. You play Psycho, who drops to the island together with Nomad, then splits up from him and goes a different route. How that exactly plays out in the end is to be seen.

Personally, I hoped to see the part where they go back in after the first Crysis...
