Default PC Gamer Preview of Battlefield 3

In the issue of PC Gamer for the Christmas season 2007 was a neat little article about Battlefield 3. It is only one page long and has no image that is from the game itself, none the less contains some nice information. Here a short example of it:
Quote:
Since Battlefield 2, the team at DICE have picked up influences from MMO games. Persistent stat tracking and new weapons for experienced players will be present, but we're hoping for more. Expect to customize your soldier's appearance, armour and weaponry beyond unlocks. Choosing a face, voice, tattoos and badges would be an obvious start.

Eh. It will probably just be more of the same BS from DICE/EA that we've seen before, shiny pretty things for four year olds, crappy stats, rushed one dimensional console like game play.

I really wish they would return to BF1942. Everything has been downhill since.

So far they have the pattern of creating a good game, then making a .5 version that has its appeals but is nothing to be too excited about. BF3 would fit into the pattern for a better game, how much though is the question and if they really can live up to it or not.

Thus says the person with a BFRoE signature xD

Anyway, I don't think so... I played BF1942 and hated it. BF2 was OK, and I LOVED 2142 (even though it is pretty darned buggy). Can't wait to see BF3

I maybe saying this for alot of people that play BF2 . I like the game play of BF2 but the weapons are not that acurate like the .50 cal. sniper rifle should be a one hit kill no matter where you hit the person unlike it was in BF1942 . Why cant they fix BF2 first before starting another game . 2142 was ok i played it maybe three times and found it was like unreal tournament or Quake3 just didnt care about the futuristic weapons in 2142 . I maybe jumping the gun on BF3 but like any of the EA games they rush putting it out and then come back with a dozen or more patches and it still wont work as they expected it to . for one i dont think im going to waste my money on a game that is going to crap out because of miss management from EA .

This bugged me "Why mess with a near-perfect set of abilities? Battlefield 3 won't alter the standard Sniper, Assault, Medic, Engineer and Support class balance."

Sorry, but the repair points for the engineer needs tweaking big time--you can repair for hrs and get sweet FA in points for the time and effort involved. And yep, I agree with ApostleO--when I hit someone with a fifty cal they should go down--period.

But I will wait and see and hopefully the account system is improved (i.e. changing names, one e-mail account etc.)
