although i welcome new games for the mac, i prefer playing on a windows os/pc based systems. (i own an imac; ATI x1600)

the major downsides for playing on a mac based plattforms is that they're not up to the performance level compared with pc systems. i don't mean the hardware in gerneal, rather the "3D" (= opengl) and driver interface.

on the top, you can not specify any eye candy by a control panel. you've gotta use ingame settings and even worse if the game doesn't support that at all.

after all, BF2142 supports AA / AF option ingame, even though up to 4x AF only.

my 2 cents.

PCs are traditionally a gaming device, especially compared to Macs, but glad to hear more people will be able to play, I could use more unique dog tags XD

Mac uses opengl?

Hmm, since that version has opengl support, I wonder if someone will be able to run it under linux

sure. it's an opengl-derivate as far as i know. quake4, COD2 and other games had been ported from PC to mac in the past.
by virtue of being only a handful of users playing on linux based platforms, companies neither develop nor port pc games for it (anymore). it's not worth playing on linux either way, IMHO. not mention the (vendor) driver support.

Great!! And how is the 3D quality?? beacause mac is supposed to be really good for graphics (even better and faster than PCs!)! If its good, I think I'm gonna buy a Mac instead of PC!!

c'mon. man, you're talking bull. these are pretty different things you're mixing up here. purchase a mac if you wanna work or do you're email, writing letters stuff ect. and a PC for gaming. macs ain't got better graphics in the traditional sense. do you know what hardware is in there ? it's friggin pc hardware. that's all.

Well, I agree in a big part, exept that software is what "use" your 3D card. So, if it's less "heavy" (like mac OS use to be), and uses your 3D card in a better way, you will be able to put your graphs in higher quality. That's why I don't really like windows (PC); they use 3D card in silly ways (just compare windows Vista that is even heavier than XP for actually nothing new). So, thats why I'm asking! But anyway, I think I will buy a PC (not enought softs for Mac ). Thanks for answering anyway

NO NO NO.. get a friggin PC if you wanna do email... you're the type of mac hater that has never used one for what its made to do.... CREATIVITY.... I edit professionally DAILY on both a HP PC workstation AND a Macpro... both are great.. BUT.. the mac is much more stable, as I can do many things at once.. video editing, animation.. plus, out of the box you're up and running in 10 mins doing what ever you want..

yes it has pc hardware, but in a Traditional sense, it harnesses its power alot better than a pc does....

but.. i ran parallels on the macpro and tried to run the demo for 2142, and it didnt work.. the key is to use bootcamp, as it uses all of the computers power to run windows, not just running windows in a window..

I use BOTH macs and PCs.. i prefer PCs for gaming and all the fun with updating and crap... but if you ever REALLY SPENT SOME TIME ON A MAC.. its amazing.. 1 click to update.. no patches, no registry problems.. they just work!
