Battlefield 2 Patch 1.4 Beta V2 Release

Though it's not official yet, a 2nd version of the Battlefield 2 1.4 patch has been released today at 2:18pm (2:53pm for the full version). Oddly enough, you cannot find this patch on most of EA LargeDownload servers, but rather only one in specific (159.153.197.99). Download at your own risk, though the IP does resolve to largedownloads.ea.com.

For the incremental patch, you will need to roll back to patch 1.3 and install 1.4 [v2] over it. If you followed the instructions included with the 1.3 patch, simply delete the Battlefield 2 folder, and rename your backup folder to Battlefield 2. Make another backup copy of it, and then patch up.

The official (in-game) version number for the 1.4 [v2] is 1.1.2940-772.0.

Patch Notes:

Hello everyone! Based on player feedback and bug reporting we are moving forward with our second 1.4 Beta version. This version has additional bug fixes and the following changes to the “Road to Jalalabad” map and the “No Vehicles” server option.

Road to Jalalabad

- Tickets adjustements
- Removal of 1 US tank to help address balance issues.

No Vehicles Option

- Added a new Server Browser Filter option for No Vehicles
- Return Health to default BF2 level
- Return Medic pack and Revive values to Default BF2
- Default spawn times to Default BF2 setting.
- No Vehicles is now a ranked server option!

We kept:

- Keep the current sprint bar setting (I.e. 2x sprint)
- Keep the current Vehicle exclusion list (i.e. we are not introducing light jeeps etc, just keeping the boats on Carrier levels).


We will be working with the Battlefield server providers to have Phase 2 servers hosted. Client files will be hosted in the same locations as the first 1.4 Beta. Please note that once you download the new 1.4 Beta you must:

- Delete your previous 1.4 Beta folders
- Follow these steps to back up your 1.3 install

> Go to “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES”
> Right click the “Battlefield 2” folder and choose “Copy”
> Right click anywhere away from this folder and choose “Paste”
> Once the copy has completed, you will have two folders named “Battlefield 2” and “Copy of Battlefield 2”
> Install the patch 1.4 beta, then start the game as normal


When you wish to switch back to the release version of BF2, use the following steps:

- Go to “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES”
- Right click the “Battlefield 2” folder and choose “Rename”
- Rename the folder to something like “Battlefield 2 Beta”
- Right click the “Copy of Battlefield 2” folder
- Rename the folder the “Battlefield 2”
- Start the game as normal.

Please make sure to take the proper steps to safeguard your 1.3 BF2 install and join us in making this the best patch possible.

Juggalicious, you can't stick to 1.3, there would be no servers to play, or at least very few, besides 1.3 was a hell of a crappy patch... Tho if you got any suggestions to the new patch, this is the right time to post it on the EA games forum

I think he means right now/temporarily, not in the long term.

same here, a quick question, i dont understand the dwnloading process, cant i just delete the 1.3 patch and dwnload the 1.4 patch?

Will this patch sort out the problem where you get kicked off a server after a few minutes? I stopped playing when that became too frustrating and I'd rather not got through the pain of trying to sort it out again for 1.4?

when i began playing bf2 there were times i would connect loading into a map. once loaded and in the kit selection or sometime shortly after (even after entering a vehicle and moving), i would disconnect back to the server browser. i was told to restart my cable modem when this happens, and surprisingly enough it does. just an idea...

Check your filters. Servers have been running 1.4 beta for over a month.

I did the upgrade and there are almost no good servers I wouldnt do it for awhile at best
