You get counted as a guest when you come to the forums. We got tons of lurkers on the forums. If you login or register you can be in some cases also counted as a guest while being logged in until that session times out.
Guests also come from RSS subscriptions, be that a site that shows it (only one guest per site) or a personal RSS subscription. Beyond that most of these guests read the news on one or multiple sites and then come to the forums, looking around.
And the last part is people searching with google. The forum gets found through a lot of different things, mostly problems with the games we cover.
