Kiwi, I agree on the American beer. Not that Heineken is much better. The only three 'normal' Dutch beers you should try are Hertog Jan, Alfa and Grolsch (I live like 3km from the brewery). Trust me. The special beers from those breweries are good as well, especially Hertog Jan's Grand Prestige and Karakter. Oh, and if you're ever here, be sure to try out Guinness Extra Stout. Only available here and in Belgium I believe.
