Default Re: Rumor: Battlefield 3 MMOFPS?

Monthly fees don't really bother me. What bothers me about games that typically require monthly fees are that they're so bland and that it takes forever to get/do something. I think the problem is those games need to give the player something to play for hours on end every month.

I used to think that the monthly fees=updates and new areas every month. I realize that's not true and you usually get updates every couple months and new areas/content every 1/2 year or so (roughly).

I played a month of WoW (hated it... I'm one of the few). I played City of Villains (and some Heroes). Loved it but got bored of the grinding after the 3rd month. Played a LOT of Guild Wars. Tried Everquest, but EQ=WOW but uglier. Or I should say WOW=EQ but nicer. I also played some EVE for a couple months, that game has a sweet idea but it lacks things to do, eg. missions/quests/whatever get repetitive quickly. I also *cough* play some Maple Story, that game is a MEGA grindfest, but there's no monthly fee. I tried that new Tabula Rasa beta but it didn't have enough new ideas/concepts/whatever to lure me in. I found it's just an old MMO with a new skin.

IMO an MMO should give some new content every month, to keep players interested. A new area, a new monster in an existing area. New skills, new classes, new loot. New systems. They just have to be simple enough to add easily into the game (hey, they only have a month to get ideas, develop and test test test them!)
